QCOM FYQ2 Rev, EPS Beat

Wireless chip maker Qualcomm (QCOM) this afternoon reported fiscal Q2 revenue and earnings per share that topped analysts’ estimates.

Revenue in the three months ended in March rose to $4.94 billion , yielding EPS of $1.01, excluding some costs.

Analysts on average had been expecting $4.83 billion and 95 cents a share.\

The company shipped 152 million of its “mobile station modem” chipsets, it said, a 29% year-over-year increase. Average selling prices for 3G and 4G shipments were $211 and $217 in the December quarter, it said.

The company ended the quarter with $26.6 billion in cash and equivalents after selling its 700-megahertz spectrum for $1.9 billion, it said
