LONDON—A ban on Royal Bank of Scotland Group RBS -1.15%PLC's dividend payments will be lifted at the end of April, sparking hopes that the U.K bank may pay out several hundred million pounds of dividends on preferred shares. But while a few investors may cheer, ordinary shareholders in the bank still face a long road before they receive any dividends as the lender continues to be dogged by Britain's limp economy and regulatory uncertainty, analysts say.
