Been missing you guys! This ranch life is a lot of damn work! We had 5-6 inches of rain in a 2-3 hour period last night which resulted in a flash flood. It took out 200 ft of high fence, and blew water gaps, and generally made a huge mess of things. I'll be in the Eagle Ford area early next week doing a "show" being put on by Valero (not oil biz related, going to promote our ranch for hosting women's retreats as in facebook.com ), and visiting my son who is still happily working with Bottom Line Services and is really enjoying all the activity. bottomlineservicesinc.com Being the eager beaver he is, he has noticed two things missing in the area: coke vending machines and pool cleaning services. So...he figures if he can place 10 coke machines, and make $10 a day profit from each, he can make an extra $3000 a month. (Can buy good used coke machines for about $750 each. Buy cokes for about 35 cents each, sell 'em for a dollar, only need to sell 16 a day to make the target..seems reasonable...considering the heat.) Plus if he can get 10 pools to clean on a weekly basis, he can make another $2000 extra a month. I like how that boy thinks, but I advised that the oil bidness can be very good to a fella and not to let these extra's bleed into his real job. So far...one machine placed and one pool contract. :) Point is...there is lots of opportunity in that area. I'm going to start looking at a motel and/or apartment project there...easily financeable with about 20% equity and returns all cash back in less than two years (then sell for multiple of revenue). One motel recently sold FOUR years worth of all their room inventory to a single oil company. (And the workers sometimes are not in the rooms on the weekend, so they re-rent to make even more $$$.)
