No, not at all. What I am saying is that, at some point, one has to get in line. Those in power have historically been the deciders of who is next.

Reagan was put in line behind Ford. HW was placed behind Reagan. Dole behind HW. McCain behind GW. Romney etc. behind McCain. People who have tried to jump the line were not strongly supported by those in power. Examples - Perot, Buchanan.

I know the counter argument is that the voters actually decide which is, in part, true. Iowa and SC are probably the best two examples in the current run up.

But the reality is that money talks and BS walks. The GOP/RNC power structure which includes bundlers ultimately make the decision by their commitment. For months now we have been told by all forms of media and the so-called strategists that Romney will win the GOP nod because he has the funds. So far, that has been 100% accurate given his current delegate total.

In my original post I was expressing the view that it is not necessary for Gingrich, Paul etc. to get out yet. I am interested in seeing commitment from the finalist regarding the big issues we face. The more candidates in the fray, the more likely that the top tier will make the necessary commitments.

In the end, I am confident that all republicans will vote against Obama and not stay home. Too much is at stake.
