They were just laying low on Iko Iko and a nice warm rocking jam that New years night , the Neville's opened up for them most of that year & their sale careers took off ... the keyboards player Brent Mydland could really play well as you see at the end but he was also not long for the world , found overdosed some months later . You can see how powerful those two drum sets are , Mickey Hart now is on the board of driectors for the Smithsonian they had great reach with their music , few could equal the improv & playing without a net .

They brought in an up & coming Bruce Hornsby to fill in for a year following . Many noteable musicians around that time like Branford Marsalis , Hornsby & Ornett Coleman came into the picture as well on many occasions , it was the peak of the largest musical phenomenon in the history of the world , don't even think the attendence stats have been beaten today by anyone . (though "Yanni" still wowing them today with 200 city tours , lol)

Wow that jam with BB King , Ray Charles and all the gang , that's better than going to any church on sunday wouldn't you say ? (and bet all the BBQ got eatin up back stage too ! hehe )

Here's a fun look back to Bobby & Donovan in some beat poet's room maybe in London , Bob just champing at the bit to get hold of the guitar to bang out Baby Blue ...poor Donovan couldnt compete but whos comparing ?

Bobby puffing away :
