That's the problem with recs in practice, they become a way for little playground gangs to vent at one another, including banned posters.

When recs are not allowed, people have to make a genuine verbal recommendation of a post they like, a nice added touch and something people only do when genuinely motivated, in my experience running threads without recs.

Not to mention that by definition, it keeps the banned posters off the playground.
