Another option would be for Bulba to use Friday's Close (Jan 6th) for all stocks for everyone. It might make it a little easier for his spreadsheet maintenance.

In the grander scheme of things, I suspect that any moves seen during the first week are unlikely to have any influence on the winning portfolio at yearend.
