Android support seen lagging iPhone by wide margin

Its true. Android is clearly leading in getting the newest and latest features and hardware out there, and the manufacturers can use it freely. But to many of the manufacturers and carriers, upgrading last years phone is a very low priority. LG comes to mind as a horrible offender, and it does result in lower brand loyalty. The same freedom that draws the manufacturers to Google Android is abused by those manufacturers and carriers in a way damaging to their own brand.

I think it hurts the offending manufacturer's brand more than Android itself, but certainly at least some percentage of those customers pissed off when their mobile OS never receive updates or upgrades might move to iOS, or a Windows Phone device, that by agreement require the manufacturers and carriers to roll out timely upgrades.
