Most tablets, including the iPad, have no USB port that would allow storing some files outside the tablet. People seem to be buying a lot of iPad tablets but not external flash memory because of the difficulty of using it with a tablet. (I don't think that uploading a file to the cloud and then downloading it to another device and then storing it on a USB flash memory is a very efficient way of handling this problem.) As the LRCX cc noted, a surge in demand for SSD, especially in small laptops, would make a great difference. It's possible that the MacBook Air and its competition will generate some additional demand here. A similar issue surrounds the iPhone4, where you can't add external memory. A growing number of people are using the cameras in their smartphones and tablets instead of cameras alone, thereby cutting into demand for external memory from these devices. This is a major reason why I lean toward a laptop with SSD, rather than a tablet with its convoluted method of transferring files to external storage. Art
