Revolutions don't always result in true Democracy. Iran is one example of that. The Mullahs engaged in a counter-revolution and won. Same in Russia during WWI. Lenin and the Bolsheviks, then Stalin took power, after the workers revolted.

At the end of the day, though, the US isn't going to succeed in bringing Democracy to those areas. It's going to be a product of the people themselves.
