Re: I really don't keep up with the day to day business of Intel anymore. I suspect the die cost differential between 45nm and 32nm Atom is very small, pennies probably. I put Atom die cost below $1 on 45nm so how much lower can 32nm cost be?

I'm guessing that cost was for the older 26mm^2 Atoms, single-core not dual-core, not including graphics, not including PCI Express, and probably not including packaging/testing costs either.

Today Atom includes a second core, graphics and PCIe and has ballooned to 87mm^2 (larger than Clarkdale's two CPU cores) and larger than AMD's 75mm^2 Ontario CPUs. I know Intel isn't producing 87mm^2 Atoms for under $1.
