Let's turn the issue around to get a more honest assessment. Do you really think the people in power have the stomach to let the structures keeping them in power collapse?

The people are sheep, and not very smart ones at that. This has been conclusively proven in the last few years. There is no question in my mind that a bailout will occur if needed. It won't be obvious it's happening. They realized they made a mistake with TARP, and aren't likely to go that route again. It will be via back room deals, probably through the Fed, but it will most definitely happen. BAC is the largest bank in the country. No way it is going to be allowed to go down. Washington has already backed off on the foreclosure issue. Once elections are over the entire issue should slowly and quietly disappear.
