have no fear, most tech cos that claim lots of cash actually hold it in overseas subsidiaries and are unable to repatriate it without facing a huge tax bill. MSFT is in this boat as well, which is why they are selling billions in debt even though they are "awash in cash".

if they want access to cash, it is cheaper to pay interest on debt than to repatriate all the cash they "have".
