Perhaps we should have given the money to the smaller prudent banks so they could have bought up the assets of the failed banks. Indeed, through bankruptcy it would have been pennies on the dollar. We would have saved billions of taxpayer dollars and at the same time been rid of the very malaise that caused the problem. I'm confident, given the opportunity, the prudent bankers would have risen to the occasion.
