The IP and royalties are worth something. But why would someone want to buy an overweight elephant to pay for the chip business. People like Jobs are too smart to buy all that non-productive fat. Much cheaper and more productive to buy some smart chip designers. You spend your money on productive workers, not dilettante CEO's. ARM isn't like x86 instruction set. Anybody (with reasonable resources) can play, and you don't have to build latest-gen fabs to compete with Intel.
