- The life of todays people is most modern democracies is the best it has ever been, by a long shot. IMO you are wrong. My mother keep telling me that it was much better when I had 6 years old. I myself would like to go back when I was just married, 40 years ago. Life was much easier. Freedom was everywhere. Government was much smaller. Regulations and interventions were much less. I already posted a list of many things that are wrong here. I don't feel repeating them. Yes. Something better than heavy social democracy once existed and was better. You will find out in a number of years that life was much better for you as well 50 years ago. You have the right guy in place for that.
