I also do a lot of shopping on line......especially at Christmas time when the vendors offer free shipping. Since the expansion of the Internet, I have become a pretty savvy shopper. I never did do much comparison shopping, but I do it all the time now.

The profit for selling merchandise at eBay was so low vendors came up with the smart idea of adding on a "handling" fee. Those became so outrageous, for the most part, I quit shopping there.

My guess would be the vendor paid $2.99 (or less) for a bulk order of the Ped Egg. Marked it up a whole lot and then added the handling fee to increase profits even more. They don't have much control over the shipping charges.

The best strategy is to avoid as many middlemen as you possibly can. I know they need to make a living too, but in this economy, I have to be really careful.
