Anybody who uses IE is asking for it, based on history.

But even with Firefox, my dad has managed to download malware twice now. This past week, it included a DNS redirector (you are taken to advertising web sites no matter what you try to do); a key logger (to steal passwords and raid bank accounts etc.); and a back-door to let the hacker get into the computer; and a root kit in the registry to reinstall everything if you delete part of it.

Beautiful. I managed to get rid of it all after about five hours of effort, eventually booting Fedora 11 Live on his computer so I could delete some of the hidden Windows files.

Files hidden even from File browser (with hidden files turned "on"); hidden processes that you can't see, and if you use a command prompt, you can see them with a switch but you still can't delete them.

The more I know about MS Windows, the more I loath it. And my experience with Vista has been even worse.
