Telos Wins Contract to Develop and Deploy Secure Wireless Networks at Army Tactical Operations Centers
Tuesday April 8, 9:15 am ET
New Contract Builds on Work Previously Performed by the Army to Support Deployed Troops Worldwide

ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Telos Corporation has won an Army contract to manufacture secure, tactical wireless local area network modules that provide ‘last mile’ connectivity from warfighters in both the training and operational environment to their logistics networks.

The Combat Service Support Automated Information System Interface (CAISI) is a communications system in transportable cases that will be fielded to logistics organizations worldwide. CAISI provides IEEE 802.11a/b/g based wireless connectivity across the spectrum of conflict. When linked to satellite communications, CAISI provides a “reach back” capability to sustainment organizations. It allows them access to sources of supply and support. Each module uses wireless bridging to support a logistics support area up to four miles in diameter and can either stand alone or be used with other modules to create a mesh network.

Telos will manufacture the CAISI Bridge Modules (CBM) for the Project Manager, Defense Wide Transmission Systems (PM DWTS), under the Army’s Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS). The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, with a potential quantity of more than 13,000 modules, will run for three base years with two option years.

“Telos’ next-generation CAISI solution provides ‘last-mile’ connectivity between combat service support information systems and their logistics base networks in their deployed location,” said Winston Payne, Telos’ CAISI program manager. “The modules incorporate the latest in wireless technology and are compliant with new security directives. On this contract, Telos partnered with Fortress Technologies and we will deploy their multi-function wireless radio as the anchor of the solution to create the CAISI Bridge Module. We look forward to enhancing the wireless connectivity in support of warfighters as they perform their critical missions.”

Since 2002, the Army has manufactured more than 8,900 CAISI modules and fielded them to logistics units throughout the service. Its widespread use in worldwide operations, including in the Southwest Asia Area of Responsibility (AOR), has highlighted the need to enhance and update the Army’s solution.
