The problem will always be customers equipped with blame-throwers using internet chat boards to pimp-slap anything that doesn't work 100%.

When you knock the walls down, you're in the same support mess Dell is in, which causes you to pay for call centers in India.

VZ can't afford to offer powerful nav at $9/month and pay for the manpower needed to support everyone managing to "break their phone".

Even DirecTV now mandates identical GUIs and remote controls across their STB line. Supporting all the variants was too expensive.
