THAI is definitely upgrading the bitumen in-situ. Temperatures above 500 C upgrade the bitumen. The air injection rate at the current time is roughly 1/3 of the production rate. The fluid flow rate is above expectations. The actual output is not being upgraded because of two factors:

1. The remaining water from the initial steam PIHC injection.
2. More fluid is flowing because of heat conduction versus combustion. The hot bitumen is causing more secondary flow than they expected.

I expect good news about upgrading because the water from PIHC should be gone soon and the air injection rates will increase and a higher percentage of the fluid flow will be due to combustion vs heat conduction.
