I would make the argument that DELL is selling a commodity and should have never received the valuation it did. INTC is quite different in this regard.....whether the street ever takes notice is another matter entirely.

Whether a product is a commodity or not depends on the subjective opinions of its potential purchasers, not on any objective characteristic. To the extent that purchasing decisions are made primarily on the basis of price, a product is to that extent a commodity. History and costs are of no significance if you don't make a product that consumers want and are willing to pay for.
