Yahoo upgraded my "Mail Plus" account this morning, from 100mb of storage to 2GB (2000MB!), and rolled out a fresh new interface. I probably would have switched to GMail just for the extra storage, but no need to now. Great timing, getting it done before GMail comes out of beta.

Nicely done Yahoo!!! If there is ever a list of the "Seven wonders of the internet", Yahoo!Mail should be among them. It is truly a stunning engineering achievement. I can only imagine how many Terabytes of storage they will need to put in place in the coming year.

I bet they will soon surpass the Petabyte threshold (1 million Gigabytes), which will probably be the last ****byte term we'll learn in our lifetimes :) According to some estimates, 5000 Petabytes (5 "Exabytes") would be equal to all the words ever uttered by mankind.

(Now if they can split SpamGuard's Bulk folder into "Definitely Spam" and "Probably Spam" it would help me sift through the 100+ spams I get a day)
