I can't remember the exact saying, but it goes something like this:

"I can't believe how lucky I get the more I practice."

There was obviously some luck involved during his stay at the White House. The economic bubble for one. But he was good. He knew how to play the political game better than anybody I ever knew. Reagan did a good job too. But his success was based largely on his convictions to do the right thing. Clinton knew how to do things to get the best personal results. In effect he could do bad things and get away with them because he could spin things so darn well. I despise Bill Clinton the human being. But as a tactician? I gotta admire the guy.
