"
CORAL GABLES, Fla., July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- SYSTEMS of Excellence,
Inc. (Nasdaq: SEXI) announced today that the Ulster County Board of
Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) has completed its month-long
evaluation of SYSTEMS' desktop video teleconferencing products for use
in some of New York's K-12 classrooms.
As the initial result of this evaluation, SYSTEMS has been asked to
place a DVTCS-Ultra at the Ulster County Alternative High School, and to
provide one mobile unit which the BOCES can use to demonstrate video
teleconferencing to students and adults throughout the school system.
The Ulster County BOCES is an intermediary school unit located in
rural New York State which serves nine school districts in an area the
size of Rhode Island. Ulster County BOCES is one of 38 BOCES units in
New York State, and serves a population of 27,400 students housed in
53 public and parochial school sites, as well as other numerous small
nonpublic schools.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be working with SYSTEMS of
Excellence," said Research and Development Coordinator, Dr. Donna Moss.
"For the last 18 months we have immersed ourselves in the educational
applications of compressed video technology. We have been using another
company's equipment, but these two units from SYSTEMS of Excellence
allow us to present our districts with both an economic and a quality
alternative."
The Ulster County BOCES hosted the first New York State Compressed
Video Technology Conference last March and has conducted a series of
staff development courses on the subject. Through its efforts, students
in local districts have connected with students and educators in many
parts of the world including Australia, Sweden, and England. Two of its
schools are planning to teach courses utilizing compressed video this
coming fall.
SYSTEMS of Excellence manufactures and markets multi-platform
desktop video distribution and teleconferencing products which provide
television quality, full color, full motion (30 frames per second)
video. SYSTEMS' products operate in a Local Video Network(TM) over
existing unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and interface to Wide Area
Network (WAN) environments. SYSTEMS' products are manufactured within
the stringent ISO 9000 and Bell Core standards, allowing a five year
warranty period.
