Ted, First, he's not running for office.

He's campaigning for Davis, so he's obviously still accepted within the liberal political circles. And it seems Davis is taking Clinton's advice seriously:

latimes.com  (The article makes no mention of Clinton, except near the end, but Davis' "new tone" has Clinton written all over it.)

they have complained about his behavior ever since Monica.

No, they haven't, except in a token sense, and only accompanied with attacks on those "evil right-wing partisans." (As usual, the first rule of partisan politics.)

Compare this with the protesters against Ah-nuld. They are doubting that his group sex escapade in Venice Beach was consensual, and they are assuming the recent harassment allegations made by some reporters against Ah-nuld must be true beyond a reasonable doubt. A far cry from the Clinton supporters who reacted silently and cautiously when the Jones and Lewinsky scandals came to the forefront.
