From reading the header which started this thread, you should have been able to surmise that I would never accept the idea that Christianity or the Gospel are a "derivative" of any other religion. >>Christianity was largely created from an ancient religion called Mithraism<< Jesus Himself made many claims which contradict this and I believe them. End of story for me. This thread was started with the idea to explore the promises given in Scripture which lead to the fulfilment in Christ. I am not surprised that many have been attracted that come only to differ with the premises underlying the idea for the thread ... on my own part when I get close to someone who is an unbeliever, I will try to express my reasons for believing what I do -- as gregro has pointed out -- I don't believe I convince anybody -- only God's holy Spirit can do that. Are there those here who would consider it worthwhile to have another thread that could be used to debate more fundamental questions about spiritual reality or whether such reality exists? Following a hiatus which I expect to end sometime near the end of October, I am going to try to get back to the thread's stated purpose. Following God's promises through the OT. Nothing wrong if folks want to continue to "debate or discuss here," as I am not likely to have much presence here until the end of October -- but perhaps a thread with a header specific to the debate might allow a wider participation?? Just a thought ...
