Intel CC notes.

Following is some of what I heard.

Total CPU units grew >1 million sequentially.
Total CPU units grew 6% sequentially.
(Therefore, >16.66M units Q1 and >17.66M units Q2. Look's like the PC industry is in pretty bad shape).

The Roadmap has been accelerated to bring the i845 into August.
Intel currently has 250 i845 board designs.
Will ship i845 volume in two weeks.
No i845/ DDR in 2001.
VIA doesn't have license to build P4 chip set.

P4 units almost doubled from Q1. Based on reports I've seen, this indicates ~3M P4's were shipped in 1H'01.
No longer a subsidy for DRDRAM.

Intel will drive the P4 into all Mainstream price segments this year, regardless of CPU COG. By year end they believe all PC's >$800 will be P4. PIII will be phased out of the desk top by year end.

They appear to be betting that the i845 will be very successful.
