Jack, from 2/14/01 shareholder letter: HDD-Based (Hard Disk Drive-Based) Digital Jukebox Platform
Our OEM customers, licensees, and manufacturers are well under way in taking versions of our HDD-based portable digital jukebox platform into production. They are expected to launch consumer products based on this platform to the public, that should result in increasing revenues for e.Digital. Hy-Tek Manufacturing has begun marketing our HDD-based platform under their Treo brand name, and EASTECH has licensed the platform for use in custom products to be branded and marketed worldwide by name-brand consumer electronics companies. (Please see e.Digital Press Releases dated 8/23/00, 11/10/00, 11/20/00, and 1/3/01 for details.)
We are working with consumer electronics companies, PC manufacturers, and home and auto stereo companies on several versions of our digital jukebox platform to be included in or bundled with their end-user products. Due to the tremendous interest in this versatile, flexible platform, we continue to expand our engineering resources to support multiple versions of our platform for our OEM customers.
We are further developing our HDD-based portable jukebox platform to incorporate voice features. We believe our current platform, as well as next-generation versions currently in development, have the potential to redefine and expand existing digital jukebox markets and create new product categories.
Our digital jukebox design project began less than six months ago and the first consumer versions of this design are now moving into production. This is significantly faster than typical design-to-production cycles for many portable digital products, and demonstrates the flexibility of our MicroOS(TM) and MicroCAM(TM) technologies and the strength of our engineering and design capabilities. |
