The government said the March Consumer
Price Index (CPI), the broadest measure of price pressures at the consumer
level, rose a modest 0.1 percent, matching consensus forecasts, and
compared to a 0.3 percent gain in February, leaving the door open for future
interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.

The core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy items, rose 0.2
percent compared to a 0.3 percent rise the prior month.
