I share the same concerns. I subscibed to a backup service last year that has run absolutely flawlessly. It's simple to set-up and gives you control over what you wish to archive each day. I have a dedicated cable connection, so the backup is scheduled for about 3AM each and every day. While its a little pricey at at $99 a year, I decided the benefits and sense of security were worth the expense.
