RESEARCH ALERT-Lehman names 10 "uncommon values"
NEW YORK, June 28 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers said Wednesday it had named its 10 "uncommon value" stocks for the year. The list is made up of 10 common stocks that Lehman analysts believe will outperform the market over the next year.
This year's portfolio includes Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A), BEA Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: BEAS), Cendant Corp. (NYSE: CD), Gemstar International Group Ltd (NASDAQ: GMST), Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HWP), Juniper Networks (NASDAQ: JNPR), Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY), Micron Technology Inc. (NYSE: MU), Nortel Networks Corp. (NYSE: NT) and Tellabs Inc. (NASDAQ: TLAB).
"The selection of the 10 stocks follows a tradition of not only examining a security's fundamental merits," said Jeffrey Applegate, chairman of the committee that comprises the list, "but also an analysis of its unrealized potential to outpace others in its industry over the next year."
Stocks on last year's list included America Online Inc. (NYSE: AOL), AT&T Corp. (NYSE: T), Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Ford (NYSE: F).
Lehman said that last year's selection outperformed the S&P 500 Index.
