Bruce and others, I was wondering what comments you might have on this week's feature article in BARRON'S concerning Internet companies that might not be around for very long. In a list of 207 companies, PHCM and SPYG rank 194 and 195 respectively. The list tries to estimate how long it will take for all of these companies to run out of cash.|
My own view is that the hypothesis is too crude to have much value as a predictor. For example, it simply relies on reported cash on hand, related to the amount of expenses that exceed revenues. It doesn't take into consideration things like the sale of stock, or even the projected revenues from new contracts with Sony, etc. However, it may produce some interesting market action this week.
