I think one thing has been proved up Vargas,
The Bellevue well confirmed that there is a huge amount of natural gas down deep in the vicinity of Ekho (the flat lands). While you still have to find the "pools", yes, one could say that the whole southern valley is home to oil and gas (not to say we don't have some good size gas fields in the northern portion of the valley, i.e. Vernalis, Lathrop, etc., at the juncture with the Sacramento Valley).
Just a few miles south of Ekho, on the flat, there is current production of gas from shallower wells, like in the Bowerbank field. And, just driving from Interstate 5 to the city of Bakersfield, along Highway 58, on the flat, you see many, many little grasshoppers still pumping oil from the shallows.
Also am alerting fellow trillers that we will be posting a couple more photos of the Ekho 1 drilling site tomorrow (Friday)which were shot on March 4th .
