Interesting that they are "advertising" it this way now. Several months ago it was billed as a generic bolt-on technology for DOCSIS 1.1.

Now it appears it's a DOCSIS modem with a switchable wrapper that turns it back into a proprietary modem if it detects a compatible BRCM chipset on the other end. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
