Yeah, older Netscape versions allowed you to specify the
mail folder location - didn't know they'd taken that out.

You might look into other mail clients. I use Eudora Pro, for example, which allows you to specify the folder location. You can set up different shortcuts to Eudora which specify different mail folders, so you could start one instance for normal mail and another for archived mail. It's Eudora's way of handling more than one user.

There's a free version (Eudora Light) which I believe allows the same setup.

You could do a similar thing with Netscape by setting up two user profiles which would get you to either of two mail folders under the profiles depending on your current Netscape user ID. You could use one profile for normal mail and the other for archived mail. The downside is you couldn't put the archive on another drive since Netscape forces it under the profile folder.
